Net zo goed als ik hou van hittegolven, hou ik ook van zomerstormen. Begrijp me niet verkeerd: natuurlijk is het niet leuk als er bomen omwaaien en spullen stuk gaan. Maar de sfeer van zo’n storm vind ik iets gezelligs hebben. Vanavond maak ik paddenstoelenragout en uiensoep. Een stukje herfst in de zomer, ik blijf het heel bijzonder vinden.

There’s a typical summer storm raging over the Netherlands today: rain and lots of wind. Somehow I like extreme weather. Don’t get me wrong: of course I don’t like the damage a storm can cause, but I do like the cosiness that comes with being sort of trapped inside the house. Tonight I’ll make mushroom ragout and onion soup. It feels like a slice of autumn in the midst of summer.
